An East German built this computer using a book back in the early 80s. He had to make trips to West Berlin to buy the RAM chips using a day pass. It's a Z80 clone based around the MME U880.

Are there digital copies of this book? I am planning on doing a similar thing

Sure, but that would only be half the fun, wouldn't it? I mean, I really like using old knowledge to do something like this

@waweic @zpojqwfejwfhiunz I may have a later copy of that book as paper, buried somewhere in my storage. We used GDR books about U880 (=Z80) b/c the german Explanations were sometimes easier for us than the english books.

@waweic @zpojqwfejwfhiunz But you won‘t need that book for the looks. Just dig into 1980s microprocessor stuff. There‘s plenty.

Isn't that marvelous alex? Super impressed at the build.
Also, I learned about day passes to the west.

@marble those TO-3 transistors for the voltage regulator!

A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
