So, what's the method to deal with the #eunomia threat, anybody got one?
I assume the first step is defederating from mastodon.social?
What about advertising to move people off mastodon.social?
@thegibson There's, what, 300k users sitting on MS? And every time there's a surge of people off another network, he opens the registrations to catch them. If you don't E's world, yeah, you have to defederate from MS but *also* stop using his software.
300K accounts, yes.
Many folks use m.s as an entry point. Once we understand the fediverse, we jump off to form our own enclaves.
I'd like to see someone start another obvious entry point, explicitly labeled as a "learn the fediverse, find your tribe, and move on to make room for others."
@thegibson @mwlucas @lordbowlich Right, so, you don't have an account anywhere else because you found that instances table and went to find your forever home. You land on https://hackers.town. How do you get an invite? Right now it says "Registrations closed. Sign up on another server" which redirects to joinmastodon dot org. You have to skip that, hit "Learn More"below the fold to get the admin info and your email address. That page doesn't mention getting an invite. It reads like an abuse contact page.
So if you're a n00b, there's no obvious way to get an invite but there is a big button that says fuck off go somewhere else.
A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
