Dear customer, you sent us a proprietary-format document to fill in, intended to be used with a software tool that we don't have available here.

We have alternatives that are usually compatible; however in this case 1 out of the 4 tools I could use renders different content for some of the important parts of the document.

Your assumption that we can communicate meaningfully using this document format represents a business risk to you that you were probably not aware of, and should be escalated to your risk register.

TL;DR friends don't let friends use Microsoft proprietary document formats (in this case, Excel)

@yojimbo Huh, aren't you able to edit the document in LibreOffice?

@Gina @yojimbo

@Gina @clacke Yep, it's literally that we noticed one cell in the sheet had a completely different text value; and no macro processing was turned on that I'm aware of.

In the context of the document, either I have to make a PCI DSS statement to the customer or I don't - which means that the business cost of this field being different could be very high indeed.

A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
