Saying this for whoever needs to hear it.

You are way harder on yourself than others.

You only see everyone else's highlight reel.

@thegibson gotta keep encouraging folk post their fails too.

spread how lessons are learned too.

@kemonine failure is jow we all learn and grow.

There is no shame in failure.

@thegibson time for an epic fail thread?

"that time I reallllly fucked up..."

@TheGibson This is why it's so important for folks to publish their post-mortems, and not just the "we were so brilliant" parts.

@thegibson So true. Especially on social media you see the things people want to share which are obviously going to skew towards the positive.

@thegibson Oh you think I'm pretty cool? Well you should know that in addition to that cool thing I did it also took me an hour to get a simple bash script working because I made the same dumb typo six times without noticing. X-)

@kelbot you know, I often get to punch APT's in the face, but ZeroC00l got nothing on me... I once crashed 35K systems due to... a configuration management error.

@kelbot @TheGibson I spent 4 hours trying to get a very old switch working after a firmware update.

Turned out to be a java bug and was fixed when the antique version of java was updated.

@thegibson once I accidentally connected my dev network to production… killed all machines via DHCP over 13 school districts in Orange County NY. Plus this was a Friday evening so it stuck until Monday afternoon
