I love reading about animal cognition. Experiments related to self-awareness and attempts to communicate are nothing short of fascinating.
My favorite example is the one on this page where a bird was taught 100 words, and eventually asked something along the lines of "What color am I?"
The idea of a bird asking a simple question and blowing someone's mind is almost too much to bear, in the best way possible.
Yesterday, 26th of September was Stanislav Petrov Day.
A day to celebrate that you, me, everyone isn't nuclear vapour right now.
SP - disobeyed orders and military protocol, used his own thinking, and by doing so averted nuclear retaliation based on false alarms that would likely have caused a mass nuclear war in 1983.
Stanislav Petrov, often referred to as "The man who saved the world" died in December 2017
"Because I may have my reservations about excessive political correctness, but honestly, I absolutely do not want to be seen as being in the same camp as the low-life scum on the internet that think it's OK to be a white nationalist Nazi, and have some truly nasty misogynistic, homophobic or transphobic behaviour.” — Linus

We're all fucking up all the time.
We're all mortified when things go completely wrong.
We don't know what we're doing.
Sometimes we cry at the keyboard. No, they're not always tears of joy.
The reason they call it a home row is because those two little nubs on the keyboard under F and J are sometimes the only things still keeping us from falling into the abyss.

I read about these Smart Response XE handhelds and ordered ten of them. now I'm glad they are coming because this cat's already done all the legwork
ugh, fuck this project
this isn't the project I should even be doing, I should be working on X
I don't know why I pissed away half a productive day on this shit (other than the request came in and I am, as is so often the case for people like me, too fucking inured to say yes to authority)
really, I just need a new boss, is the problem -_-
at least this one'll be reasonable when I tell her why this thing is an irredeemable failpile, tho

...if it's intended as an improvement on the cross between the 4chan "let's get rumors started" and agenda-news "we can make this look balanced" engine, by integrating the two neatly
or if it's some agency's honeypot
YET, anyway. time will tell I guess
supposedly it always does, lol
(and no, I'm not interested in having you 'change my mind', if this upsets you, not my problem. take the advice you've probably given to others: "toughen up"/"it's only words"/etc.)

lulz.com hit my radar earlier, did a looksee
it's got the 4chan-style anon posting draw for the slightly washed assholes, and their 'about' says:
"We are neither right- nor left-wing and we allow writers from all backgrounds provided they have something interesting to say."
yeah, because some people are totally not biased 😆 😆 🤣 😂
not sure yet if it's actually the "4chan's older brother, with news-style interface" built for the sake of "fuck over SJWs hur hur" or...
just another hacker chick
