Pinned toot

By day, I'm a security-focused software engineer. By night, I'm learning more and more about various infosec topics like packet analysis and reverse engineering. Breaking things is fun.

I'm also interested in electronics and amateur radio. I am trying to go to more conferences, not least because of all the blinky lights.

Say hi!

I ordered 3 new USB drives, and Amazon just sent me an email that my account was locked for suspicious activity.

cancel me I tried giving money to Bezos

In other frustrating news, none of my USB drives seem to be working properly?!

It's the lowest-effort and least-impactful thing one could possibly do; but hey, let's not stop this guy from feeling self-important and virtuous.

Unfederating from an instance because the owner worked alongside a cop once is both the most hilarious and the most virtue-signally thing I've ever heard. Way to STICK IT TO THE MAN, hahaha.

Do you pay federal taxes? You are literally funding imperialist wars!!111 blocking!!!!

But also infrastructure and food stamps and national parks and Medicare and and and

I seriously am getting too bent out of shape (see what I did there?) about this, time for a drink.

@paperclip
People doing infosec work are defending more than just data. Critical infrastructure, supply chain, government, military are all targets for nation-state level atrackers.

It's easy to take the moral highground when you aren't in the position of defending REAL, INNOCENT PEOPLE's data. The left will eat itself.

Blocking people or servers you disagree with on a political issue is a really grown-up move.

No huge loss, IMHO.

I take a short break and all of a sudden there's DRAMA.

I seem to have misplaced my SDR antenna. 😣

Would someone kindly explain why I have to do 5-6 Captchas (saying "Please try again") all the time? Either their Captcha validation sucks or they're trying to waste my time.

hackers.town should have an onion address. Just sayin'.

If you're not listening to hackers.town:2600, you're doing it wrong. I love this community. :C_H:

Reason #204 why I use adblock:

The Washington Post, which I subscribe to, tries to load 24 tracking or advertisement pieces of code that execute in my browser without my consent. And I *pay* them.

I really, really am honored to announce what I'm about to announce.

So when I started thinking about what hackers.town:2600 would be, I had a dream for some spoken word shows to be in the mix as well.

We are going to be doing our own podcast soon that will be broadcast as well... but I reached out to some old heroes of mine and asked permission.

Sometimes all you have to do is ask.

@HackerRadioShow has granted permission for us to rebroadcast their show. These guy are awesome and have a weekly show about hackers/hacking/making on WBAI in NYC... and we will be rebroadcasting their shows in our mix soon...

Guys.

Go follow @HackerRadioShow for the love of god, show them numbers to get them excited about the fediverse, because they have a bullhorn.

@Rob_T_Firefly rob is one of their co-hosts, and plugs mastodon regularly on the air.

Let's return the favor.

I love you fediverse.

Now let's get out there and restore the future.

Say hi!

I shouldn't bring my laptop to public places. The desire to Wall of Sheep the library Wi-Fi users is strong. I shall resist.

A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
