(re)introduction, longish post
ah yes everyone's doing introductions again for the flood of new faces. Welcome, friends old and new.
I'm sure i *made* an introductions post when i first made my account but i failed to pin it because i had no idea what i was doing at the time so here we go again.
About me: hi I'm Muggle. The name is *not* an endorcement of a certain well known terf, but a name I've gone by, both for long enough, and starting long enough before she made her views Public, that it would be a hassle to change... and honestly I'm not interested in giving bigots that much power over me, to change my name or identity. Anyway I'm queer as hell - including polyam - and use they/them pronouns. one of my two current partners is also on mastodon @lindsays but we have a wonderful sprawling polycule that i like to describe as a spiderweb, but I am frequently Too Aro For This. hence my own relatively small number of partners lol
Content warnings/notes/topic identifiers are super cool and even when something doesn't need a "warning" I'm still more likely to take advantage of thread titles that collapse the content below for the simplicity of people uninterested and their ability to just scroll by. Especially because I tend to ramble and then forget to warn for long... I just collapse everything into content headers and call it good tbh. If I've forgotten to warn for something you need warnings on, feel free to ask me to warn for it and I'll do my best going forward.
I make software for a living... for now. That might hopefully change in the next couple of years, but I'm trying not to pivot so fast that i kick the rug out from under my own feet in the process. Likely to ramble about this process as changes happen.
As hobbies I do a lot of reading, writing (mostly fanfic), music (handbells - i know they're niche but please come nerd with me about them), and crafting, and recently added mtg both draft and commander tournaments to my regularly scheduled fun. My side gigs are selling some of my crafts (see other pinned posts) and math tutoring which I genuinely love (which helped me figure out that hopefully-upcoming career switch)
Anyway I also enjoy listening to nerds whose specialties differ from mine ramble or teach or deep dive into their own cool topics, even when i don't understand enough to contribute to the conversation. Tell me what cool shit you're into
selling crafts
one of the things i *did* accomplish this week is taking and posting enough photos to un-hide another commissio listing. I now officially sell amigurumi (crocheted stuffed animal) corgis here https://commiss.io/listings/gMNd
(but also amigurumi nearly-anything-else if you've got a pattern picked out that you want someone to make for you)

app rec request
thanks for the suggestions everyone. ultimately I'm sticking with tusky because apparently the ability to log in to different accounts on different instances isn't super common, and I don't want to lose that feature
selling crafts
hello welcome to your irregular reminder that I offer custom crochet... anything probably. If a pattern exists, I can come up with a quote for how much I'd charge to make it for you. Mostly so far I have made stuffies and one pokeball dice bag
app rec request
I'm switching between phones at the moment which means if I'm going to use mastodon through an app other than tusky, it's the right time to find out. Does anyone have a favorite mobile, preferably fdroid app? and why?
i can always find tusky again but if there's something better it's a great time to recommend it to me.
(redrafted for visibility; boosts okay)
selling crafts
actually on that note, here's the listing for the "literally anything else" if you're interested - https://commiss.io/listings/9j2p

mh-, looking for resources
does anyone have any favorite checklists like this one except different?
https://adhdpie.tumblr.com/post/180524517940/am-i-having-a-brain-problem-or-being-a-shithead
I'm failing to put into words why this one isn't working for me, but I'm still pretty sure i would benefit from something similar. Or even from this one on a different day. But I have way more anxiety issues and not specifically adhd so i think the "figure out what's scaring you" step just isn't enough for me? idk
crafting
as soon as I'm certain the eyes won't fall off (glue takes a while to fully cure) and then snap some Good photos of it (ie not with my phone), this pupper will be in the mail to their new home
crafting
aaaaaand corg number two in progress because it's a cute pattern and I'm stressed and Making Tangible Things helps
selling crafts
anyway someone should totally commission me to make another corgi because this pattern is adorable
(I'll have a listing on commissio for it as soon as i get better pictures of the neon one I made this week; $75 base price but if you request one in "lifelike colors" i might offer a discount since photos of the resulting corg would help my marketing... In the meantime, paypal + dms is fine, or request a custom project through the existing pubic listing - https://commiss.io/listings/9j6N - which is officially for a dragon; just mention that you'd like a corgi instead and I'll adjust the price accordingly)
music personnel search (unofficial/preofficial)
long shot on this instance but I'm gonna ask anyway...
are there any music directors (preferably *already* handbell directors, but willing to learn to direct bells is okay too) looking for a low-hours side gig in central Colorado starting around fall 2022/spring 2023?
because i know a very skilled, audition-only group that's looking for a new director with a similar level of skill and enthusiasm.
(the search committee is set to be established Officially later this week, and I expect to be on it, I'm just eager to get the process started because it's so niche we're all worried it will take a long time)
crafting
as usual, I am following someone else's pattern, not improvising as I make something fun
this week's corgi is from this pattern: https://www.etsy.com/listing/964927292/cute-corgi-dog-amigurumi-crochet-pattern
queer as hell: ace, demiro, enby (they/them) polyam, the list goes on
math nerd. fanfic author. musician. i like listening in on linguistics nerds even though i can't contribute much. Do i count as a computer nerd if software is my day job or when do i graduate to expert?
I star most posts i read unless i actively think i shouldn't be engaging with them (venting relevant to an identity i don't share, for example). It's my online version of active listening since you can't see me nodding
