I’ve been putting off my annual internet detox. The FOMO is too strong! Well, I’m heading out on a road trip in the next day or two for three weeks. And I won’t be back in time to lobbycon DEFCON. Can’t miss what I can’t see. So now seems a good time to log out for a while.

With any luck, I will pass through Ellijay sometime in the first weeks of August. I’ll pop back in around then.

Otherwise, I hope to see everyone back here in a October.

Time for a 2022 #introduction post

I am a very remote software engineer and when not dirtbagging around the American west, I'm living and working from a cabin in the white mountains of Arizona at an elevation of 8,200 ft. Yes, it snows here.

I am here for the community and chatting about whatever is going down on local.

Recently getting into #gardening, but I also post about what I'm #nowReading (and would be glad to discuss anything that I'm reading), work venting, ocassional opinions on the state of #webDev. I keep a #digitalGarden and like to share my writing from it. I'm interested in topics of #solarPunk, #permacomputing, #zen, and panpsychism, but don't have much to say.

I get sucked into posting about #uspol way more than I like. I'm open to a wide range of viewpoints within reason, but know that my own position is rather far to the left and my views on property ownership fall very much into an #anarchist camp.

Looking forward to meeting many of you in person at this year's HOPE.

Work laptop arrived. Now I have an excuse to watch HOPE for the rest of the day while ansible playbooks run on it.

New work laptop shipped out from Phoenix via USPS on Tuesday... tracking number updated this morning to say it's made it to... Scottsdale.

Apparently this thing is supposed to be eggs benedict. An association I would never make considering it resembles and tastes nothing like it.

It is particularly vile that McDonalds has so polluted my mind with their ad spam that I can't think of an English Muffin and Egg sandwich without wanting to call it a McMuffin despite the fact that McMuffins are fucking gross.

Things feel slow lately.
