there was a game I used to play like magic the gathering that was hacker/cyberpunk themed. it was recently rebooted by fantasy flight but then wizards of the coast killed it off again. so now there’s this non-profit that redid all the card art and flavor text so you can get reprinted proxies without having to deal with DMCA. it’s like the most cyber punk that could happen to this cyber punk card came. https://www.jinteki.net/

i want to figure out how flexible the microcode architecture in intel processors is and i know the answer to that varies

someone has now managed to break the intel p6 microarch format and i'm looking at it a bit, but i really am curious about that of the 386. the 386 supposedly was even more reliant on microcode, with
all of the decoding and all instructions done via microcode, where as the 486 onward they started to implement some in direct hardware, and had partial hardware based decoding logic instead

and what i want to find out is if any intel cpu is truly flexible enough in microcode that you could write a microcode binary that makes it, say, a m68k instead

or a VAX

Dr. Skrzyk's Friendly Advice on Following Someone on the Fedi™

Step 1: Read their profile and pinned toots.
Step 2: Check for follows set to approval
Step 3: Check if they mention follow criteria. Quite a few people do this - something like "please interact first" or similar.

If you've done all three and pass their criteria then send the follow request. If you can't do this for me you will at best not get your request approved.

A Hyper-V question if anyone out there knows: I'm taking down my replica server temporarily to install more memory, Should I be pausing replication on all my VMs while the server is down? Or can I just leave it as is?

FLOSS hot take

I never got interested in FLOSS because as a political discourse it seems incapable of conceiving of technology in a way that enables communities to mount an effective defense against the technological issues of our times.

Instead of protecting people from technology and the systems of power and hierarchy behind its creation, it seems more interested in protecting technology from people, and in particular protecting its use from being constrained in any way.
