Oracle doesn't have customers.

It has hostages.

@drwho When I started working, I used Oracle 7. People have been trying to move away from Oracle ever since they introduced the new licensing scheme that considered CPUs and their speed because of web sites, by now the licensing terms are so complicated I think our sales team is forcing Oracle to do the calculations for them. And whenever we are free to make recommendations, we pick PostgreSQL. The rumours a about Oracle "licensing consultants" coming and billing you for past years didn't help, and the rumours that the wrong click here or there would enable options that required more licensing also didn't help. It felt more and more like a liability. At the same time, PostgreSQL just got better and better.

A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
