Something I realized watching let's plays and speedruns is that one of the reasons I'm so terrible at video games is because I hoard resources.

I grew up messing with BASIC on a C64. I grew up, in short, with very few resources. Coupled with a family culture of using and fixing things until they quite literally blow up or catch on fire, I hang onto every powerup, every special weapon until I absolutely, positively need it to get past or through something. Depending on the game, sometimes I'll hang onto them to beat a boss and throw everything and the kitchen sink at it to do so. But then I'm back to square one, no powerups, no extras, and after two or three levels of that I'm out of lives.

I don't think I really learned how to use the tools I have in hand in that regard.

A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
