I've been using UNIX{,-like} operating systems for too long when an installation works exactly like I'd expect out of the gates. Manjaro is seriously freaking me the fuck out.

You'll be seeing some... issues after a few updates, especially if you install AUR stuff, or import some other distros trees cause they have software you want... It gets complicated fast... ;)

@seven @seven oh good. So kind of like early to mid redhat days before EPEL was a thing

@drskrzyk_

Exactly like that actually! Just keep up on the updates, or you run into problems fast unless . you stick with just core Manj and nothing else...

@drskrzyk_

I'll even venture to say it reminds me a little bit of debian dependency madness... Like running sid for too long and only updating certain things, that kinda madness...

@drskrzyk_ @seven

You know when you have screwed the pooch on your UNIXLike OS when you start going down the endless rabbithole of manually symlinking libs with random numbers to other random numbers in a desperate attempt to satisfy dependencies... Just nuke pave and walk away my friend it's not worth it...

@seven @seven /me stares angrily at /etc/alternatives

We're getting reaaaaly close to one of my rants about the failure of elegance that flatpack, snap, and appimage represent.

ugh. if {Free,Open}BSD only supported my hardware.

@drskrzyk_ @seven

Or anything that's not directly network stack related... I love BSD, but seriously, I need a OS people actually dev for daily driver wise...

@drskrzyk_ @seven

And by people I don't mean perl gurus (that's right I said it)...

Follow

@seven @seven Perl in the streets, Jython in the sheets.

@drskrzyk_

Ok that might be the finniest thing I have heard all week! I'm dying . over here... I'm such a nerd...

A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
