i was listening to some teenagers talk in staccato in public, mimicking the way people talk in youtube videos when the ums, ahs and dead air is edited out, and i realized i was hearing an accent. like people from different towns and countries have accents, people from different parts of the Internet have accents.

@cat …I’ve noticed that I picked up a slight amount of British English verbiage (not so much accent) as an American, from being from the part of the Internet that watched way too much Top Gear and European motorsport
and then there’s the whole thing where Canadian accents are weakening in younger Canadians because of their exposure to US media - not an Internet thing, but related
