random thought, the "punk" in things like cyberpunk is about having your own agency in spite of world that tries to stop it


im sure that was the original intent but my impression is that the punk means someone is about to pop out of the woodwork to gate keep whatever cyberpunk is.

@RadicalEdward yus! And the "cyber" part comes from cybernetics (greek kubernētikós, “good at steering, good pilot”) which refers to governence and social control through mediums of communication.

@RadicalEdward yes. i think we've lost too much of the punk spirit. we dont always need to change/fight/remake the world- simply exploring what nobility & essence we ourselves can muster is a valiant & great deliverance.
