Google exec says Nest owners should probably warn their guests that their conversations are being recorded
@Mnemonic in the state of Florida USA as well as other states it’s illegal to record someone without their permission.
@estoricru Yes we, in The Netherlands/EU, have that too. buildings with cameras must have a clear sign saying you're being recorded and stuff.
Now in your own home I don't know the rules, but in this case it's technically not you yourself that does the recording (and handling of it) but a foreign entity called Google to which only you as buyer have consented...
@Mnemonic Yeah I'm not really sure how it works out w/ that here.
@estoricru Same goes for Google, that's why he said "should probably"
@Mnemonic fuck Google
burn it to the ground and salt and its ashes as a warning!!
@Mnemonic Dafuq? I should do an article on this.
the "future" is "great"
@solder_on "Understood... Great Furniture, available NOW in the Google Interior Design catalogue, have you considered hanging a black mirror in the bathroom?"
A bunch of technomancers in the fediverse. Keep it fairly clean please. This arcology is for all who wash up upon it's digital shore.
