Sundar Pichai in his NYT opinion piece:
"It’s a trust we match with a profound commitment to responsibility and a healthy dose of humility. Many words have been written about privacy over the past year, including in these pages. I believe it’s one of the most important topics of our time."
It's impossible to take that statement seriously given the history and business model of Google, unless by "take it seriously" he means something along the lines of "we need personal information and will continue to use it for our gains".
