New Atheism/spiritualism

I read Harris, Hitchens, and Dawkins back in the day. I liked their books, but I couldn't quite get past the disdain for those who were spiritual. Their rhetoric got too much for me and I ignored them. When I heard from them again they were spewing vicious crap and I wanted nothing to do with them.

I am not spiritual but I know some who are and they get great peace from it. I see no reason to tell them they're stupid if what they are doing isn't hurting anyone, even if what I think they believe is silly. It can certainly go too far, but just because you're Christian/Muslim/Jewish/Wiccan doesn't make you evil.

Everyone deals with internal issues and the unknown in different ways in order to get on with living.

@GeoffWozniak i find i was much more ok with christians when they actually lived up to the pretty reasonable advice jesus gave. you know, not evangelicals.

re: New Atheism/spiritualism

@libc Evangelicals are dangerous people, as are any such group in any religion.

Same goes for Muslims. Most of them have no interest in taking down the world or hating everyone. Some do, but they learn not to.

@GeoffWozniak jesus may just have been a naughty boy instead of the messiah, but i don’t judge
