As promised, here's my cruddy picture of Saturn from last night.

The phone just would not focus on it. It's too bad, too, because it looked great. You could see the gap between the rings and the planet. Awe-inspiring, really.

The best view was with a wide angle, large apeture eyepiece and the Barlow lens, which is what was used for this photo. The detail was higher but the image wasn't fuzzy.

Using the small apeture eyepiece provided a lot more magnification at the expense of a lot of fuzziness.

@GeoffWozniak The phone should do a good job on a shot of the Moon through the eyepiece, however. It'll fill the view and ship in sufficient light to work.

@yojimbo Definitely. We'll be trying that as soon as the moon is out. It's actually one of the reasons my wife wanted a phone mount.
