global pol, and impact on online discourse

I've noticed that there seems to be an uptick in anti-china sentiment and conversely, among leftist social media discourse, an uptick in astroturfed pro-china whitewashing.

It really seems like online social communities are being primed for conflict between China and the US/Western Bloc countries.

For the record, fuck nations and states. Fuck the US government, and fuck the China government. Carrying weight for either the US or China propaganda machine won't get you any points. If you feel the need to defend china's actions? Maybe don't. It doesn't help anyone, especially here.

If/when this cold propaganda war boils over into something more, you don't get anything for being on either "side"

We all lose, rich assholes win. Doesn't matter whose side you're cheering on.

@Anarkat Fools online getting reflexed on.

@Anarkat I got the exactly same feeling: We in the west are being primed for war against China.

@Anarkat Do you have any thoughts about who's driving this astroturfing? China? The US? A third party like Russia?

@jrc03c China has the bureaucratic infrastructure and population to maintain phenomenally massive troll farms. We already know that Russia maintains troll farms, and Russia has already been successful in tearing apart the social fabric of the United States with their misinformation.

In a war between nuclear-armed china and nuclear-armed US, the rich assholes will not win

Everyone will lose everything, even them
